Title Generator: 140-char optimization
How to use all 140 characters Etsy gives you without keyword-stuffing.
Updated May 30, 2026·3 min read
Etsy gives you 140 characters for your title. Most sellers use 60-80. That's wasted real estate — every character is a chance to surface in another search.
Structure that works
[Primary keyword] | [Material/Attribute] | [Use case] | [Audience]
Example: 'Sterling Silver Heart Necklace | Dainty Layered Pendant | Minimalist Jewelry | Gift for Her'
Do
- Front-load your strongest keyword in the first 60 characters
- Use separator characters (|, –, comma) to chunk for readability
- Include long-tail phrases shoppers actually search ('gift for her', not just 'gift')
- Match capitalization to product category norms (Title Case for handmade, sentence case for digital)
Don't
- Don't repeat your tag list verbatim — title needs flow, not keyword soup
- Don't use ALL CAPS — looks like spam, hurts conversion
- Don't add emoji to titles — Etsy doesn't index them and search relevance drops
