How accurate are SEO scores?
What our 0-100 scores can and can't predict.
Updated May 30, 2026·4 min read
Our SEO scores are signals, not guarantees. They predict the likelihood your listing will rank — not the actual ranking, which depends on factors only Etsy controls.
What we measure (and measure accurately)
- Title quality vs Etsy's known weighting rules
- Tag coverage and phrase diversity
- Description structure, keyword density, length
- Photo signals (alt text, file naming, count)
- Pricing competitiveness within your niche
What we can't measure
- Real-time Etsy ranking position (Etsy doesn't expose this via API)
- Buyer behavior signals (CTR, favorites, conversion rate) — Etsy uses these but they're per-buyer
- Etsy ads spend impact
- Recently changed Etsy algorithm weights (we update monthly but there's lag)
Heads up
A 94 score means you've checked the boxes Etsy publicly weights. It does NOT guarantee page-one ranking. Real-world ranking depends on competition, buyer behavior, and Etsy's evolving algorithm.
We update score weighting monthly based on observed Etsy algorithm changes. Methodology is published on /security.
